Tourist sites in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, have reopened after being closed for over a month due to the phreatic eruption of Kanlaon Volcano.
Mayor Jose Chubasco Cardenas emphasized that reopening these sites is vital for economic recovery and local livelihoods.
Comprehensive assessments showed improved conditions and mitigated risks, allowing for the safe return of visitors.
Although Kanlaon Volcano remains at Alert Level 2, volcanic quakes and sulfur dioxide emissions have decreased.
Cardenas urged tourism operators and visitors to follow updated safety guidelines, including restricted access to hazardous zones and adherence to evacuation procedures.
