CALL FOR HOUSE PROBE INTO FAKE DOCUMENT ISSUANCE TO CHINESE NATIONALS

Lawmakers from the Young Guns bloc in the House of Representatives are pushing for a congressional inquiry into the issuance of falsified birth certificates to several Chinese nationals by the civil registrar of Sta. Cruz town in Davao del Sur from 2018 to 2019.

Led by representatives including Cheeno Miguel Almario and Zia Alonto Adiong, they emphasized the need to protect the integrity of the civil registration system and ensure national security.

The investigation follows reports that Chinese individuals were arrested for attempting to obtain Philippine passports using fake documents, highlighting concerns about oversight and accountability in local civil registries.

Immigration officials detained two women with Philippine passports at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, suspected of being involved in fraudulent activities related to Philippine documents.
