Paris Olympics double gold medalist Carlos Yulo will receive a royal welcome upon his return to the Philippines on a chartered flight scheduled for Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Yulo, who won gold in floor exercise and vault in men’s artistic gymnastics, will be greeted by supporters including Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carrion.
The Philippine Sports Commission, Malacañang, and Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna have organized a grand parade in Yulo’s honor, starting from his hometown in Leveriza, Manila.
The celebration will mirror the heroes’ welcomes previously given to athletes like Hidilyn Diaz and Manny Pacquiao.
In addition to the warm reception, Yulo will receive substantial cash rewards totaling over PHP 40 million from various sources.
