Boracay Water, a subsidiary of Manila Water Philippine Ventures and a concessionaire of TIEZA, was named SDG 6 Champion of the Year at the 2025 Global Water Awards in Paris for its Integrated Water and Wastewater Management Program on Boracay Island.
The program focuses on water conservation, energy efficiency, and sustainable wastewater management to protect Boracay’s natural resources while supporting its tourism-driven economy.
Key achievements include reducing non-revenue water from 30% to 19%, saving 1.68 million kWh in energy over three years, and upgrading the sewage treatment plant to advanced technology.
The initiative has also expanded sewer coverage to over 7,300 households, reducing environmental risks and improving sanitation.
Boracay Water’s award highlights its commitment to balancing environmental stewardship with economic growth and maintaining Boracay as a world-class destination.
