Protests erupted across Metro Manila as students and activists condemned large-scale corruption in government flood control projects.
At the University of the Philippines campuses in Diliman and Manila, protesters decried stalled construction, overcrowded classrooms, and alleged budget mismanagement under the Marcos administration.
University officials expressed support for the calls for transparency and accountability, emphasizing the moral responsibility to address corruption.
Various groups, including progressive women’s organizations and church leaders, joined the protests and urged Filipinos to participate in the upcoming “Trillion Peso March” against corruption.
Police reported that the protests ended peacefully, while authorities remain on high alert ahead of more scheduled demonstrations.
