Former vice presidents Jejomar Binay and Leni Robredo have declined invitations to attend President Marcos’s July 22 State of the Nation Address (SONA), while former president Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Sara Duterte have yet to confirm their attendance.
House of Representatives secretary-general Reginald Velasco confirmed that invitations have been extended to all former VIPS, with seats reserved for them until the last minute.
Meanwhile, 47 countries, including the US and China, have confirmed the attendance of their ambassadors at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City for the annual presidential address.
SONA preparations are nearly complete, although minor construction delays in the Batasan area have been reported.
