The Philippine Army has recommended the removal of Cavite Rep. Francisco Barzaga from its reserve force over alleged misconduct.
Army spokesman Col. Louie Dema-ala said Barzaga’s social media posts insinuated that the Armed Forces, police, and reservists would join the Sept. 21 protest to withdraw support from President Marcos, which he called unlawful.
Barzaga, who joined the reserve force in January with the rank of private, is part of the NCR Regional Defense Group Reserve Command.
The Army classified his actions, including making “seditious statements” online while in uniform, as a grave offense of misconduct.
Officials clarified that the decision only affects his military reserve status and does not impact his role as a legislator.
