Former Senate President Franklin Drilon expressed gratitude on Sunday, July 14, to both the late President Benigno Aquino III’s administration and current President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for the completion of the Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project (JRMP II).
Despite their political differences, Drilon credited both administrations for their roles in realizing this significant infrastructure endeavor, particularly beneficial to Iloilo residents.
The project’s three major dams are scheduled for inauguration on July 16, with President Marcos Jr. invited to lead the ceremony ahead of his upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Drilon highlighted the project’s journey from its inception in the 1960s, through funding challenges, to its revitalization under Aquino and completion under Marcos Jr., underscoring its importance for enhancing food security through increased rice production.
