Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo appeared before the Pasig Regional Trial Court for a four-hour hearing as her legal team began presenting evidence in her qualified human trafficking case.
The charges are linked to her alleged involvement in illegal activities at a raided POGO hub in Bamban, where workers were reportedly tortured for refusing to run scams.
Her lawyer, Nicole Jamilla, confirmed Guo’s appearance but did not disclose details about the witnesses or evidence presented.
One of Guo’s co-accused is Huang Zhiyang, identified by authorities as a top figure in illegal POGO operations.
The defense’s presentation will continue next week, while Guo also faces other legal battles, including graft and misrepresentation cases in various courts.
