Senator Alan Peter Cayetano announced that the Senate may move to its new building in Taguig City by the last quarter of 2027, earlier than the previously targeted 2028.
The move aims to reduce rental costs at the current GSIS building in Pasay City.
Cayetano noted that the transfer process will take time due to necessary negotiations, office preparations, and the transfer of Senate records.
He is set to present a report on the construction status of the new building next week and is also working to secure the GSIS contract to avoid office disruptions.
Despite the timeline adjustments, Cayetano emphasized their commitment to ensuring the new building is of high quality, functional, and cost-efficient.
