AI SUMMIT HIGHLIGHTS NEED FOR PEOPLE-FIRST APPROACH, SAYS BRIAN POE

FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list Rep. Brian Poe called for a people-first approach to artificial intelligence (AI) during his closing remarks at the State of the Nation on AI (SONAI) 2026.

He emphasized that AI policies should protect workers, empower small businesses, and improve public services, while ensuring measurable, real-world outcomes.

Poe highlighted two legislative measures: the Artificial Intelligence Development Authority Bill to provide coordinated governance, and the Career Transition Assistance Bill to support worker reskilling amid industry modernization.

He stressed that technology adoption must be paired with clear accountability and timely policies to prevent disruption.

The summit also identified immediate AI applications in finance, disaster response, SMEs, and IT-BPM, positioning the Philippines as a hub for responsible and inclusive innovation.
