Some 664 barangays in Luzon, including 412 in Metro Manila, are at risk of landslides, flooding, and debris flow from July 3 to 6 due to heavy rains enhanced by a low-pressure area, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) reported.
The agency warned that urban flooding in Metro Manila is worsened by poor ground absorption and overwhelmed drainage systems.
Local governments were urged to activate disaster response measures such as clearing waterways, monitoring rivers, and enforcing evacuations.
Classes were suspended in several Metro Manila cities and provinces due to heavy rains and flooding.
Meanwhile, the Office of Civil Defense is coordinating disaster preparedness efforts as the low-pressure area may intensify into a tropical depression, bringing more heavy rains to northern and western Luzon.
