1,700 PUV DRIVERS IN ILOILO CITY TO RECEIVE FUEL AID

Iloilo City has allocated P3 million to provide a fuel subsidy for around 1,700 public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers amid rising fuel prices linked to the Middle East crisis.

Mayor Raisa Treñas said the program will start with jeepney drivers and may expand to include taxis and tricycles, with monthly coupons worth P1,500 in petroleum products.

Eligible drivers must operate within the city, hold a valid license, and have vehicles listed in the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board master list.

The subsidy program is coordinated through transport cooperatives and managed by the Atipan care center, with distribution set to begin once documents and budgets are finalized.

The fuel coupons will remain valid until December 31, 2026, depending on fund availability, and the city is also exploring assistance for displaced workers and MSMEs.
