The Sandiganbayan’s Third Division entered a not guilty plea for former senator Ramon Revilla Jr. after he refused to plead in a malversation case involving an alleged P92.8-million ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
Revilla and co-accused former DPWH official Juanito Mendoza face non-bailable charges of malversation and falsification of public documents over a project that was allegedly never implemented.
Revilla’s camp said the refusal to plead was meant to allow him to question the legality of the charges filed by the Office of the Ombudsman, while Mendoza pleaded not guilty.
Meanwhile, the Sandiganbayan’s Sixth Division set the March 3 and 5 trial dates for fugitive former lawmaker Zaldy Co in a separate P289-million ghost flood control project case in Oriental Mindoro.
Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said more individuals have been implicated in similar cases now pending before the Ombudsman and the Sandiganbayan.
