PROPER WASTE SEGREGATION URGED BY MAYOR JEANNIE TO PREVENT FLOOD RISKS

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval urged residents to practice proper waste segregation to address the city’s ongoing drainage problems caused by improper garbage disposal.

After recent clean-up drives, local officials found large amounts of plastic bags, styrofoam, and other debris clogging waterways, with an average of 300 sacks of waste collected daily during flood-response efforts.

The city government continues to deploy teams for declogging and flushing operations in flood-prone areas under the Key Mobile Jeannie Services program.

City Environment and Natural Resources Office Head Mark Mesina emphasized that government efforts need community cooperation to prevent waterway blockages.

City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete also encouraged residents and barangay officials to maintain cleanliness through simple daily habits like proper trash disposal and yard sweeping to help prevent severe flooding.
