Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia has urged candidates, political parties, and party-list organizations to register their social media accounts and online campaign platforms within 30 days following the filing of certificates of candidacy.
Non-compliance with this requirement will be considered an election offense and could lead to disqualification.
The call follows Comelec Resolution (CR) 11064, which outlines guidelines for using social media, artificial intelligence, and other digital tools during the 2025 national and local elections.
Garcia emphasized the importance of regulating these platforms to prevent abuse, as they will be widely used in the upcoming polls.
The Comelec’s Task Force KKK sa Halalan will monitor both registered and unregistered online accounts for campaign-related activities and misinformation.
