The Philippines added four silver and four bronze medals at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Jhodie Peralta of Zamboanga City won five medals in the women’s 53kg category, earning silvers in the Youth division and bronzes in the Junior division.
Jerick Icon Castro claimed one silver and two bronze medals in the Youth 56kg category, while Prince Keil Delos Santos placed fourth and seventh in the Junior 60kg class.
Other medalists included Angeline Colonia, Princess Ann Diaz, and Alexsandra Ann Diaz, who all won medals in the Youth division during earlier matches.
The event marks a key step in developing young Filipino lifters, with hopes of strong representation at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, according to the Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas president.
