The Philippine National Police (PNP) has begun securing burial sites linked to the disappearance of over 100 sabungeros, following whistleblower Julie “Totoy” Patidongan’s claim that bodies were dumped in Taal Lake.
PNP officials, while withholding details, confirmed security measures are in place to protect the sites and Patidongan, who has received death threats after implicating gambling operator Atong Ang.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said multiple criminal charges are being prepared, including kidnapping and murder, against members of a “corporate-style” e-sabong network involving businessmen and government functionaries.
The Philippine Navy is ready to deploy three diving teams once the DOJ officially requests help in locating remains, while Japanese equipment is expected to assist in underwater operations.
The Supreme Court also confirmed it is investigating judicial corruption linked to the case, while the NBI was cleared of any involvement by Patidongan.
