LCES ORDERED TO CRACK DOWN ON REMAINING POGO OPERATIONS

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla called on local chief executives (LCEs) to step up building inspections and ensure the eradication of Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) in their areas.

This comes after the Bureau of Immigration arrested 400 foreigners involved in POGO-like activities in Parañaque City on January 8.

Remulla emphasized that LCEs will be held accountable if they fail to report clandestine operations, with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) requiring a “no POGO certificate” from all LGUs by the end of January 2025.

LGUs have also been directed to collaborate with the Philippine National Police to detect hidden operations.

Negligent officials may face legal cases, as underscored by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission.
