FIVE CHINESE NATIONALS FACING DEPORTATION DUE TO UNDOCUMENTED STATUS

Five Chinese nationals suspected of illegal entry were apprehended while working as crew members on the Philippine-flagged vessel MV Sangko Uno at Navotas port on Sunday.

Acting Philippine Coast Guard spokesman Lt. Commander Michael John Encina reported that the undocumented workers lacked proper passports and work permits, with only one able to present a passport.

A Filipino-Chinese crew member was also arrested in connection with the incident.

The Chinese nationals face potential deportation.

The Philippine Coast Guard will seek an explanation from the vessel’s owner regarding the presence of the undocumented workers.
