DICT CONFIRMS NO CURRENT DATA BREACHES AMID CHINA-HACKING CLAIMS

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reassured the public that no current government data has been compromised, despite recent reports of China-based hackers targeting the Philippines’ executive branch.

DICT Secretary Ivan Uy confirmed that while several hundred thousand cyberattacks occur daily, most of them are detected and blocked before causing damage.

He emphasized that the data involved in recent reports were outdated, stemming from incidents in previous years.

The DICT continues to monitor and block persistent threats, including those linked to Chinese hackers but remains vigilant in challenging claims of successful breaches.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines also assured that systems are in place to detect and prevent cyberattacks, maintaining close coordination with international allies on cybersecurity.
