Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia announced that the decision on awarding Miru Systems the contract for supplying vote-counting machines for the 2025 midterm elections will be revealed this week.
Garcia stated that contract negotiations will proceed if Miru Systems secures the contract, otherwise, a negotiated bidding process will follow with another firm.
Miru Systems offered to lease its machines at P149,000 each, while Comelec aims to lease 110,000 vote-counting machines along with other necessary election materials.
In addition to the vote-counting machines, the leasing agreement encompasses ballot boxes, papers, pens, laptops, printing services, and other essential items required for conducting the election.
