The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has issued a warning about an increase in pro-China trolls and influencers on social media.
PCG spokesperson Commodore Jay Tarriela stated that China is utilizing various social media platforms and relying on trolls to undermine the Philippines’ transparency initiative regarding Beijing’s illegal actions in the West Philippine Sea.
Tarriela highlighted that China’s approach aims to spread misinformation, divide the Filipino people, and counter the government’s efforts to educate and unite the nation.
The transparency initiative, which has been effective in educating Filipinos and gaining international support, will continue to expose China’s aggression in the West Philippine Sea.
The PCG is committed to sustaining this initiative and ensuring that the issue of the West Philippine Sea unites all Filipinos, regardless of political affiliations.
