Education Secretary Sonny Angara announced plans to build 15,000 classrooms in 2027 through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme, benefiting around 600,000 students nationwide.
The initiative, with an estimated cost of ₱37.5 billion to ₱60 billion, aims to address the Department of Education’s 165,000-classroom backlog.
Angara emphasized that PPPs are an efficient and sustainable solution to the massive classroom gap.
Additionally, the department plans to digitize and solarize schools by mid-2026 to create a future-ready education system.
These efforts align with DepEd’s goal of producing competitive and employable graduates.
